Involve Glossary

Sponsored Content

TL;DRSponsored content is promotional material that a brand pays a publisher to create and share, presented in the publisher’s own style and format. It’s different from affiliate content, where the publisher earns commission on results rather than a flat fee for the content itself. Publishers on Involve Asia can combine both — creating sponsored content that also includes affiliate links to earn commission on top of any flat fee agreed directly with the advertiser.

What Is Sponsored Content?

Sponsored content is created by a publisher on behalf of a brand, in exchange for a fixed payment. It could be a blog post, a video, an Instagram post, or a podcast episode — produced in the publisher’s own voice and format, but paid for by the brand being featured.

Unlike a display ad, which is clearly separate from the surrounding content, sponsored content is integrated into the publisher’s usual output. This is what makes it effective: it reaches the audience through a voice they already trust and consume.

Sponsored content must be disclosed as such — audiences have a right to know when content was paid for, separate from an organic recommendation. This is typically done with labels like “Sponsored,” “Paid Partnership,” or “In collaboration with [Brand].”
