Pick Your Platform

Selecting your ideal social media platform to promote your content with affiliate links depends on your target audience, niche, goals, content style and budget.

We break down the most popular social media platforms based on your criteria for promoting brands in affiliate marketing.

Once you decide on your social media platform, you can start looking for affiliate programs to sign up for and promote them.

Alternatively, you can also set up blogs and/or content sites, which we will explain further in the next section.

Blog and website lets you display your detailed information differently based on your followers’ preferences in engaging with content online.

Blog

Website

Content

Sharing the latest articles in chronological order

Static landing pages filled with content based on category or topic

Monetisation

Monetise your blog by joining an affiliate program, writing sponsored posts, and creating a subscriber list

Setting up online stores or providing professional services online to monetise the website

Updates

Frequently update with various content

Standalone content with no frequent updates in the long run

A blog is a great way to share your updates with your followers regularly, while a website showcases specific information about your products or services.

There are two types of platforms to set up: Facebook and Instagram.

Personal individual accounts and business pages are two different platforms on social media.

Individual Account

Business Page

One person can only handle one individual account

Share personal photos and status updates with close friends and family

Enable privacy settings that allow you to control who can view the content

No tracking on engagement and interactions on posts

No content scheduling and requirements to post manually

Multiple people can manage one business page

Connect with past and potential clients

Collect reviews, share essential details about your business and post about industry-related topics

Able to track engagement and interaction with analytical tools

Can schedule content to auto-publish to the page

We recommend you set up the business page to increase your credibility and engagement with your followers and optimise your content strategy with tracking in affiliate marketing.

Before setting up a Facebook business page, you need to have a personal Facebook account. If you already have a personal account, you can skip this step and set up your business page immediately.

To set up a personal Facebook account, head over to the Facebook homepage and tap “Create new account” Fill in the details and tap “Sign Up”.

Finish creating your account by confirming your email address or mobile number and you are ready to set up your business page.

Log in to your Facebook personal account and navigate to “Menu” followed by “Page” in the “Create” section.

Add the name of your page, category, page description, profile picture, and cover photo before clicking the “Create” button. Your Facebook business page is all set!

Create an account with your username and password, agree to the T&Cs, and add your profile picture. Curate the Instagram profiles you would like to follow, and you will have your very own personal Instagram account.

Before you switch your personal account to a professional account, ensure that your account is Public. Navigate to “Settings” > “Account”, scroll down, and tap on “Switch to professional account”.

Select a category and then choose “Creator” to best describe you.

To complete your profile, add your bio and URL link. Your URL link should direct your followers to a page where they can find all your affiliate links.

Now, you are all set with your Instagram professional account. You can edit your profile at any time.

Connect with Facebook, Twitter, or Google, then add credentials such as username, password, and contact details.

Add your profile picture & bio and connect with other social media accounts. Your personal TikTok account is ready!

Navigate to “Settings and privacy” > “Manage account” and tap on “Switch to Pro Account”.

Select “Creator” as your Account Type, and then choose a category that best describes what you are promoting.

You will get a popup saying you switched your Personal Account to Pro Account.

On your Twitter (X) app, navigate to the profile picture in the top left corner and tap on “Create an account”.

Connect your X account with your Google or Apple account. Alternatively, you can create an account with your email address.

Enter a six-digit code to confirm your email address. Add in your password, profile picture, and username.

Choose categories and follow your preferred X users to view what posts you would like to see on your X feed.

Once your X account has been set up, the next step is to switch it to a Professional Account.

Navigate to your profile picture > Twitter for Professional and tap “Agree & Continue”

Select a category to describe your account best. Select Creator for your account type.

You will return to your X profile, and a welcome message will appear indicating that you have switched to a Professional Account. Feel free to customise your profile to align with your needs at any time.

Create a Google account and you will have your very own YouTube platform ready.

Navigate to “Settings” > “Account” and select “Create a new channel” under Your YouTube channel.

Create your unique channel name, tick that you have understood the terms & conditions, and tap on the “Create” button.

Once your channel has been set up, you will return to the YouTube homepage. Navigate to the menu at the top left corner where your profile picture is and tap “View your channel.” Here, you can customise your channel, upload your videos, view analytics, and more.
