How Big Bang Sales Drove a 796% Increase in Sales

According to Similarweb data, in 2023, over 864M monthly visits were made by online shoppers on the top 100 websites in various industries across Southeast Asia.

Despite the economic uncertainty, customers spent wisely on their purchases through brands’ constant push on year-end and holiday deals with attractive bargains and discounts.

Here’s how Involve Asia’s year-end “Big Bang Sales” campaign drove significant growth for brands through participation by Involve Partners.

Situation

Involve Asia’s internal performance data of the first three quarters of 2023 showed a steady growth in conversions and sales. We had foreseen that customers would make their final rounds of purchases at the year-end sales as many brands were pushing popular deals to various customers.

Therefore, Involve Asia initiated the “Big Bang Sales” campaign to capture intent, as customers frequently shopped for better deals during the trending year-end sales in 2023.

During the “Big Bang Sales” campaign, it aimed to achieve the following objectives:

  • Increase sales on purchases made on brands’ online shopping platforms in various verticals
  • Increase the number of participating brands from different verticals to provide various options for Partners to promote to their online followers
  • Increase the number of sign-ups on the brands’ affiliate programs
  • Increase the number of winback Partners in promoting participating brands throughout the campaign
  • Increase brand exposure among potential Involve Partners and target customers

Involve Asia provided sponsored marketing exposure for brands who were keen to have wider brand exposure and encourage more Partners to participate in the “Big Bang Sales” campaign.

Sponsoring Brands selected one of the above tier packages, which was then fulfilled by Involve Asia and entailed sending out internal communications to targeted Involve Partners by vertical and country throughout the two months.

Marketing exposure for “Big Bang Sales” was deployed with the following details that attracted Partners to promote the featured brands on their platforms:

  • Upsized commissions
  • Limited-time deals
  • Top-selling products
  • Exclusive promo codes

Detailed information related to sponsored brands’ promotions helped Partners to earn more commissions and higher payout so they could be in the running to win bonus rewards.

Campaign Overview

Involve Asia’s “Big Bang Sales” campaign invited Social and Non-Social Partners to promote the participating brands from various verticals and earn commissions.

Partners earn Coins based on the successful payout made through their promotions.

They earned more coins by promoting participating brands during the following sub-campaign periods:

  • 10 – 12 November 2023: 11.11 Sales
  • 24 – 27 November 2023: Black Friday & Cyber Monday
  • 11 – 13 December 2023: Year-End Festive

Eligible Partners (promoted at least 3 participating brands) with the highest total of Coins were awarded with exclusive bonus rewards.

Dedicated Landing Page

We developed two landing pages (Social & Non-Social- based on their Partner Types),  where Involve Partners were able to obtain detailed information about “Big Bang Sales” such as:

  • Campaign mechanics
  • How to earn Coins with specific sub-campaign dates
  • Coin counter
  • Participating brands (including Featured brands) by country and vertical, based on Partner Type
  • Blog articles
  • Terms & conditions

Involve Partners were encouraged to join our social media platforms and community groups so they can receive the latest updates.

The landing pages were localised for Partners who set their preferred country for Partner Property.

Results

Campaign Performance

Frequent Partner participation in promoting the participating brands throughout the campaign period contributed a 1990% increase in total conversions and a 796% increase in total sales above target metrics.

Although there were more Marketplace and Fashion brands participating in the Big Bang Sales campaign, Travel (20% increase) and Services (12% increase) are among the most promoted verticals due to their target audience preferences and attractive year-end deals.

Most Partners who have traffic in specific countries based on the brands’ target audiences were able to drive more successful purchases and bookings online.

Sub-Networks drove the highest number of conversions and sales as most Partners ran their targeted ads to specific countries across Asia.

Involve Partners who managed Rewards pushed promotions with attractive discount codes and cashback led to higher sales among other Partner Types.

The overall performance of Content partners was consistent on total conversions and sales due to their engagement with online followers through edutainment content that enticed them to shop on brands’ e-commerce sites via affiliate links.

Each top brand in Marketplace, Fashion, Travel, and Service impacted significant growths in above the target conversions and sales.

Brand T, Brand S, and Brand K had a huge increase above target in sales while Brand A was almost 13% close to reaching its sales target.

Most of the Involve Partners are Sub-Networks were mostly likely to pick up the sponsored brands’ promotions as they were provided with the following, which led them to strategically target their ads in specific country traffic:

  • Brand resonance with customers’ preferences for products by verticals
  • Recommended limited-time deals with top-selling products
  • Exclusive promo codes on the brands’ website and mobile app
