Running a successful website that consistently makes money is no easy task. I have observed and reverse engineered successful content websites that are active Publishers with Involve.
In this article, I will lay out the blueprint for a successful content website in 4 easy steps:
- Create useful content
- Understand your audience
- Start promoting easy Affiliate Offers
- Profit – Rinse & repeat what works for you
At the end of this article, you’ll know what to do, and within a few months, you’ll be able to turn your website into a money-printing machine! Let’s get started:
STEP 1: Create Useful Content
I can’t stress enough, but Content is KING. There’s nothing more valuable for your business than creating and publishing useful content on a regular basis.
Your content must either educate or entertain your audience (ideally both). But, how would you know what content to create that will be worth your time and effort?
According to interviews with our Publisher Managers, the table below outlines the best performing content type (and examples) for popular niches in homepage and social media:
Niche | Performing Content & Examples | Website Example |
---|---|---|
Tech & Gadgets | Amanz.my
|
|
Fashion & Beauty |
|
Productnation.co
|
Finance |
|
Ringgit oh Ringgit
|
Here’s an example of tech and finance blogger, Tech Rakyat.
His blog includes:
- ‘How to’ guides, listicles and reviews on tech gadgets and home appliances
- Tips & tricks on how to make money online
To supplement your own content, Involve also has a directory of ready-made banners that you can place on your website’s sidebar, header, footer, homepage, or social media. Example:
Ensure that you connect your website to Google Analytics and consistently create and publish at least 1 content a week.
Over the next few months, you should be able to see your website visitors steadily grow. At which point, Google Analytics should have enough data to tell you a story about your website visitors:
STEP 2: Understanding Your Audience
Google Analytics can give you valuable insights into your audience. Such as:
- You’ll know which content is getting hits (and to do more of).
- You’ll know what type of Offers to promote to a particular demographic.
But if you don’t know what to look for, accessing your website’s analytics can be overwhelming. Without going into data paralysis, you can start by focussing on these 2 simple metrics:
- Your audience’s age group
- Your audience’s gender
So the next time you want to promote something, you’d have a better prediction if it would convert into sales based on age and gender stereotypes.
Here are a few examples of what type of Offers convert well depending on typical audience demographics:
High Converting Offers to Promote (Based on Stereotype) | Age Group & Gender |
---|---|
Inexpensive make-up & fashion items | Women 16-25 YO |
Luxury make-up & fashion items | Women above 25 YO |
Credit cards | Both genders 18-35 YO |
Health supplements | Women above 30 YO |
House decor | Women above 25 |
Car accessories | Men above 25 |
Great, now that you have content and an audience that you can predict, it’s time to promote relevant affiliate products to them and earn commissions!
STEP 3: Start Promoting Easy Affiliate Offers
Often, there are too many products to promote. But where to start?
Our Publisher Managers advise content websites new to Affiliate Marketing to promote generic Offers from popular e-marketplaces in your country (Shopee, Lazada, Tokopedia, JD.ID, etc.)
Create content around promotion items that are usually on banners on the home pages of these e-marketplaces.
These are often what the e-marketplaces are trying to push and often come with great discounts, which could be attractive to your audience. Example:
From the example above, there’s up to 50% discount on home office & bedroom furniture, a great Offer to promote. All you need now is to create content to promote this Offer. Here are some examples of content ideas that you can do:
- How I Set Up My Home Office for Less Than $500
- 10 Insta-Friendly Bedroom Decor for Less Than $20
Run Content & Conversion Experiments!
Take this opportunity to run experiments to see which type of Offer & content converts into sales the best with your audience:
- High-priced but small quantity vs. low-priced but large quantities.
- Quality branded items vs. cheapest products
- Do they respond well to Offers with vouchers or promo codes?
- Do they buy the specific product you’re promoting or end up buying another product from the same store?
All this info will be handy for you to pick what to promote in the future for maximum conversions with the least amount of effort on your end.
In the next section, we’ll show you how you can monitor your marketing performance on the Involve dashboard:

Ultimately, there are two metrics to measure your marketing efforts at Involve:
- How many people click on your Affiliate links (clicks)
- and how many of those clicks convert into sales (conversions)
To see an overview of your marketing performance, log into your Involve Publishers dashboard, and see the box on your right:
To know more in detail, like which link is getting clicks and conversions, use the following tools:
- More detail on what is getting clicks – Performance Report
- More detail on what is getting conversions – Conversion Report
By knowing how many clicks and conversions (or lack of), you’ll be able to pinpoint what you could do better.
The table below will give you examples and solutions to common Affiliate marketing mistakes:
Problem | Meaning | Solution |
---|---|---|
Not getting enough clicks | The Offer that you are promoting is not relevant to your audience | Experiment with another Offer that might be more relevant |
Get clicks, but no conversions | The Offer is not attractive enough | Find another Offer from a better-known brand with great discounts |
Secret Tip: For Easy Money
A ‘conversion’ can be registered from two commission payout methods:
- CPS: commission on a successful sale through your link (most common)
- CPUC: commission on unique clicks on your link (rare)
CPUC Campaigns is a great way to start as it is easier to get clicks than to get a sale. So keep an eye out for Involve’s monthly marketing events (i.e MAD) where CPUC Campaigns are available.
