Track Type
TL;DR — Track type shows which device platforms an affiliate offer supports for tracking — Desktop, Mobile Web, iOS App, and Android App. Only conversions that happen on an enabled device type will be tracked and eligible for commission. On Involve Asia, the track type is shown on every offer page so publishers can confirm whether the devices their audience uses are supported before promoting.
What Is Track Type?
Track type defines which platforms and devices an affiliate offer is set up to track conversions on. Each offer can enable or disable tracking across four device types: Desktop App, Mobile Web, iOS App, and Android App. Only purchases or actions that happen on an enabled device type are captured as conversions — anything on a non-supported platform won’t be recorded, even if the user clicked through a valid tracking link.
This matters because audiences don’t always convert on the same device they clicked from. A user might click a link on mobile web but complete the purchase inside the advertiser’s iOS app — and if the iOS App is not enabled in the offer’s track type, that conversion will not be attributed to the publisher.
Track type is determined by the advertiser based on which platforms their tracking system supports. Publishers whose audience primarily shops through a specific platform — such as the mobile app of a marketplace — should verify that device type is enabled before building a campaign around an offer.
Track Type on Involve Asia
On Involve Asia, the track type is displayed on the right side of each offer’s page using four icons: Desktop App, Mobile Web, iOS App, and Android App. When an icon is active, conversions via that device type will be tracked. When it is inactive, conversions on that platform are not captured for commission.
For example, a publisher promoting a shopping app to an audience that primarily converts through the iOS version of that app should confirm iOS App tracking is enabled before sharing links. If it isn’t, clicks may occur, but commissions won’t be recorded for purchases made through that platform.
