Involve Glossary

Direct Order

TL;DRA direct order is when a customer clicks a publisher’s affiliate link for a specific product or store and completes a purchase of that same product from that same store. It’s the cleanest form of conversion — the click and the purchase align exactly. On Involve Asia, some offers distinguish between direct and indirect orders, with direct orders earning a higher or additional commission rate because the customer followed through on the specific promotion.

What Is a Direct Order?

A direct order occurs when a referred customer completes a purchase of the exact product or from the exact store that the publisher’s affiliate link pointed to. The click and the resulting purchase are aligned — the customer did what the link intended.

In most standard affiliate offers, all qualifying purchases within the cookie window earn commission regardless of whether the product bought matches what was linked. But in some offers — particularly marketplace programs with large product catalogues — advertisers distinguish between a direct order (customer buys the promoted item or from the promoted store) and an indirect order (customer clicks the link but buys something else elsewhere).

A direct order signals genuine purchase intent for the promoted product or store. The customer clicked with a specific purpose and followed through, which is why some advertisers reward direct orders with a higher or additional commission rate compared to indirect purchases.

Direct Orders on Involve Asia

On Involve Asia, the direct versus indirect order distinction applies to certain marketplace and platform offers where the advertiser tracks whether the resulting purchase came from the same product or store as the link promoted.

Where this distinction matters, it is detailed in the offer’s commission structure on its offer page. Publishers who want to maximise earnings on these types of offers should promote specific products and stores rather than generic homepage links, since direct orders typically earn a stronger commission than indirect ones.
